April 29, 1865

THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, April 29, 1865  The front page is quite graphic, featuring a Civil War map headed: "The Surrender Of Johnston. Map of the Region Where the Rebels found the Last Ditch" and nice first column heads, capped with a nice graphic of an eagle with "Victory" in its beak: "The War Practically At An End!" "The Great Rebellion Is Dead! "The Last Armed Force Has Capitulated!" "Grant Gains Another Triumph!" "Johnston Surrenders The Entire Southern Armies!" and more.
Eight pages, an archival repair across the middle of the front page causes some loss of text, irregular at the bottom margin, some discrete archival mends inside.
