THE COLUMBIAN PHENIX, OR, BOSTON REVIEW, Boston, February, 1800

* Very rare publication

A very rare, short-lived literary magazine which lasted but seven issues, from January through July of 1800.
The predominant article  is: "An Eulogy on the Late Gen. WASHINGTON, Pronounced Before the Inhabitants of the Town of Boston...by George R. Minot" which consumes nearly 7 pages.
Further on is: "Anecdotes of Illustrious & Extraordinary Persons, Perhaps not Generally Known" which features the famed composer G. F. Handel.
Near the back is over half a page taken up with a report from the President which begins: "The commencement of this month was marked by a continuation of that sorrow, for the loss of General Washington..." with more.
Complete in 64 pages, never-trimmed, wide margins, 5 1/2 by 8 3/4 inches, very nice condition.
