NILES' NATIONAL REGISTER, Baltimore, June 27, 1846 The back page has a report headed: 'Illinois" which includes: "Mormon troubles continue to distract some of the fairest portions of this state...considerable number of the sect still continue at Nauvoo...many of them without means to get away...the anti-Mormons have assembled over a thousand men in arms, determined to drive them out..." with more.
Also on the back page; "Slavers" noting that: "The brig Malaga...having been seized at Kabinda, W. Coast of Africa, and sent in for trial...left that port...for the coast of Africa...indicted in the U. S. Court, Charleston, S. C. for being engaged in the slave trade, has received a verdict of not guilty."
Six pages are taken up with reports on the Mexican War.
Sixteen pages, 8 3/4 by 12 inches, very nice condition.
As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
