Great on Stanley searching for Livingstone... The Sioux Indians...

Item # 685008

August 08, 1872

NEW YORK HERALD, Aug. 8, 1872

* David Livingstone found
* Henry Morton Stanley

Over two-thirds of page 8 are taken up with a very detailed account of the Livingston/Stanley expedition in Africa. Since the New York Herald financed Stanley's expedition in search of Dr. Livingstone, this newspaper had terrific coverage of the event.
First column heads include: "LIVINGSTONE AND STANLEY" "Comments of the English Press on American Pluck and Enterprise" "The Letters Of The Great Traveller" "The African Slave Trade" "Stanley's Stories of Livingstone" and more.
Also, the back page begins with a report pin the Sioux which takes over 1 1/3 columns headed: "THE BRULE SIOUX" "Spotted Tail and His Squaw Go Shopping" "An Attempt Made to Insure the Lives of the Scalping Party" "Broadway Filled with Great Crowds to See the Wild Sioux" and even more.
Ten pages with the Supplement, irregular at the spine due to disbinding, a printing error in the heads of the Sioux report (see), otherwise good condition.
