John Q. Adams promises to rescind the infamous "Gag Rule"...

Page 3 has a report from the House of Representatives concerning infamous "Gag Rule" which prevented members of the House of representatives talking about slavery or related topics.
The report notes that Adams would formally make the motion the following day, reading: "Mr. John Q. Adams gave notice that he would tomorrow submit a motion to rescind the 25th rule of the House. This rule is in the words following:..." and what follows is the text of the Gag Rule which had been in force since 1836. The rule notes in part: "No petition, memorial, resolution...praying the abolition of slavery...shall be received by this House, or entertained in any way whatever".
