DAILY NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER, Washington, D.C., Sept. 23, 1844  Page 3 has a brief yet interesting report: "Mormonism" which notes: "Sidney Rigdon, who returned to Nauvoo a few weeks since from Pittsburg to be the successor of Smith, has been regularly unchurched by the Twelve Apostles. The administration of the affairs of the church for the present is to remain in the hands of the Twelve Apostles."
