October 15, 1836

THE LIBERATOR, Boston, Oct. 15, 1836

* Rare anti-slavery publication
* Early pre-Civil War era

It is rare to find such early issues of this famous anti-slavery title edited by William Lloyd Garrison. It began publication just 5 years earlier. The masthead features a woodcut of a slave auction.
Much anti-slavery content as one might expect, with articles including: "Refuge of Oppression" "Slavery - Eloquent Extracts" "Anti-Abolition Meeting" "Female Anti-Slavery Society in Millville, Mass."Middlesex County Anti-Slavery Society" and much more.
Subscriber's name above the masthead: "J. Gibbons" could be Joseph Gibbons of underground railroad fame but this cannot be confirmed.
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed (uncommon to find as such), some loss at the top of the back leaf but not affecting any mentioned articles,  good condition.
