October 06, 1883

NEW YORK TIMES, Oct. 6, 1883  Page 5 has "THE INDEPENDENCE OF DOUGLASS. ADVISING COLORED VOTERS TO STICK TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY", which includes in part: "I am thought to be an Independent. And so I am, but I am an Independent inside of the Republican Party." and "For the life of me I cannot see how any honest colored man, who has brains enough to put two ideas together, can allow himself, under the notion of independence, to give aid and comfort to the Democratic party in Ohio, or elsewhere."

Eight pages, small binding holes along the left spine, a bit fragile, but overall good. Should be handled carefully.
