The top of pg. 3 has: "Death Of The President" with the report beginning: "Yesterday morning mail bought the important, but not altogether unexpected intelligence of the death of William Henry Harrison, President of the United States.
By this event John Tyler, the vice President becomes president for the balance of Gen. Harrison's term, and Samuel L. Southard President pro. tem. of the Senate becomes Vice President of the United States." And just a few more observations in this report.
In honor of Harrison's death all columns on pages 2 & 3 are black-bordered.
