Yankees win the 1961 World Series...

Item # 682983

October 10, 1961

THE DETROIT FREE PRESS, October 10, 1961

* New York Yankees baseball
* Win World Series championship
* Mickey Mantle & Roger Maris era

The front page has a photo showing both managers after the game. (see) The sport's section (page 31) has a banner headline: "Who Needs M&M? It's Yanks, 13-5" and more with related photo and box scores. This was also the season that Mickey Mantle & Roger Maris were chasing Babe Ruth's home run record (Maris would beat it in the final game of the season).
Interesting also that a full page Camel Cigarette ad has the endorsement of a few Yankee players including Roger Maris, Yogi Berra & Whitey Ford. (see)
The complete issue in 38 pages, small library stamps withing the masthead, small binding holes along the spine, minor margin wear, generally nice.
