This town in Northern California was formally named "Boston Ravine" and then "Centerville". It began as a mining town, situated at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range in Northeastern Calif. This is the volume 1, number 3 issue.
Perhaps the notable feature is a printing of: "A Visit from St. Nicolas" by Clement C. Moore, more commonly known as: 'Twas the Night Before Christmas". This printing has the title: "Santa Claus Visit" and includes an engraving of Santa. Not commonly found in newspapers of the era.
