* Abraham Lincoln Thanksgiving Proclamation
Although there are various Civil War reports in this issue, perhaps the most interesting content is the page 4 printing of: "The National Thanksgiving - Spirit of the Proclamations" which is prefaced with: "For the first time our state thanksgivings are observed on the same day and are merged in a national thanksgiving by appointment of the President...". What follows are the Proclamations by both Lincoln, signed in type: Abraham Lincoln, and John Andrew, the governor of Mass.
It was just a year previous that Lincoln formally created the first national Thanksgiving.
Eight pages, very nice condition.
