FRANK LESLIE'S ILLUSTRATED NEWSPAPER, New York, July 1, 1865 Perhaps the best & most desired print is the very nice half page vertical print captioned: "Grand Match Between the Athletic Base Ball Club of Philadelphia, & the Resolute Club of Brooklyn, N.Y....at the Union Ground, Brooklyn.". This shows a baseball game in progress, including the full panorama of the field with a crowd of spectators on both sidelines.
Among other prints within: "End of the poor--funeral from a tenement house in Baxter St., Five Points, New York." The doublepg. centerfold has an interesting & intricate engraving captioned: "The Tenement Houses of New York--How the Poor Live in Crowded Cities--How Pestilence is Generated--How the Parents are Demoralized & their Children Depraved--The Great Source of Destitution & Crime." which includes a cross section of a large tenement house.
Sixteen pages, archival strengthening at the spine, various light foxing, generally good.
