The cover has: "On, Zephyr, Futura! On, Crash and Ali!", with the subhead: "IN PRAISE OF GRAFFITI", by Richard Goldstein, which includes a wrap-around, Christmas-themed color illustration of graffiti artwork by Henry Chalfont. The related article is found on pages 55-58, which includes a centerfold showing 6 different street-art works which are no longer in existence, captioned: "The graffiti shown above is no longer visible, having been defaced by the M.T.A.".
Additional articles of interest are: "The Original Star Trek" and "Willie Nelson's Historical Burden".

Complete in 112 pages, a strong mid-fold and a couple of minor margin tears, an ink-stamp placed by the V.V. on the cover, but overall in nice condition.

Provenance: This issue comes from The Village Voice's own archives, part of their in-house collection used to create their digital archive.

Background: The Village Voice was an American counterculture newspaper known for being the country's first alternative newsweekly. It introduced free-form, high-spirited, and passionate journalism into the public discourse - a tradition it maintained throughout its 60+ year history. It is quite common to find great political cartoons, satirical cartoons and articles, thought-provoking editorials, and ads and reviews for both concerts and theater productions - both on and off Broadway. Many iconic writers and musicians credit their appearance in The Village Voice for at least a portion of their success.
