December 09, 1899

THE EVENING TRIBUNE, San Diego, Dec. 9, 1899

* Brigham Henry - B. H. Roberts
* Mormons - Mormonism leader
* Democrat congressman polygamy trial

The top of the front page has a one column heading: "ROBERTS' DEFENSE" with subheads. (see) Surprisingly this issue is in good condition being from the "wood pulp" era. Very hard to find issues that are not totally fragile from this era in paper. Rare as such.
Complete with 8 pages, a few small library stamps near the top of the front page, a few small binding holes along the spine, generally very nice.

wikipedia notes: Brigham Henry Roberts was a historian, politician, and leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). He edited a popular six-volume history of the LDS Church and also wrote Studies of the Book of Mormon—published posthumously—which discussed the validity of the Book of Mormon as an ancient record. Roberts was denied a seat as a member of United States Congress because of his practice of polygamy.
