NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, Nov. 21, 1835 

* Beginning of the Texas Revolution
* Battle of Goliad - Texian rebels victory


Inside has a report headed: "From Texas" which includes: "...confirm the fact of the Texians having captured the garrison at Golish [sic: Goliad], but attribute it to a forced march on their part at midnight during the absence of general Cos & the sleeping of the Mexicans...". Included as well is a letter from Gregorio Gomez which begins: "It is now proved that the fears of all good Mexicans have been too well founded. The hypocritical & false promises of the Texian colonists have not deceived the enlightened part of the nation. These ungrateful traitors, these unnatural guests...are attempting now to plunge a murderous poignard in her bosom...They have openly declared their rebellion..." with more.
A report which follows includes: "Many parties of volunteers were leaving...for the relief of Texas...several skirmishes had taken place which had resulted uniformly in favor of the Texians...that the Texians had resolved to have Santa Anna or his head..." and more.
Another page has a full column headed: "The Slave Questions" followed by a half column: "Emancipation".
Complete in 24 pages, 6 1/4 by 10 inches, great condition.
