1902 Will Reynolds killings in Tuscumbia, Alabama...

Item # 679441

April 09, 1902

THE EVENING TRIBUNE, San Diego, April 9, 1902

* Will Reynolds mass murder killings
* Colbert County law enforcement officers
* Negro lynching - burning

The front page has a one column heading: "Negro Burned To Death After Killing Five Men" (see) Also another related report on page 2 with heading: "NEGRO AROUSED A MOB'S RAGE" with subheads. (see) Surprisingly this issue is in good condition being from the "wood pulp" era. Very hard to find issues that are not totally fragile from this era in paper.
Complete with 6 pages, small library stamps within the masthead, a few small binding holes along the spine, generally very nice.

wikipedia notes: William "Will,Willy" Reynolds was an American mass murderer who shot nine people, seven of them fatally, in Tuscumbia, Alabama, United States on April 6, 1902, before being shot dead himself.
With the sheriff and five deputies of the Colbert County Sheriff's Department among those killed this was the deadliest incident in Alabama law enforcement history.
