December 19, 1907
THE EVENING TRIBUNE, San Diego, Dec. 19, 1907
* Darr Mine disaster
* Rostraver Township
* Westmoreland County
The front page has a nice banner headline: "THE WORST MINE HORROR OF THEM ALL" with subheads. (see) Surprisingly this issue is in good condition being from the "wood pulp" era. Very hard to find issues that are not totally fragile from this era in paper.
Complete with 8 pages, small library stamp within the masthead, a few small binding holes along the spine, generally very nice.
wikipedia notes: The Darr Mine disaster at Van Meter, Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, near Smithton, killed 239 men and boys on December 19, 1907. It ranks as the worst coal mining disaster in Pennsylvanian history.
