April 05, 1865

PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, April 5, 1865

* Civil War end in sight
* General Ulysses S. Grant
* Robert E. Lee's army breaking up

A great front page, featuring a nice map headed: "THE DECISIVE FIELD.  Map of The Ground Fought Over By Our Troops" showing the vicinity of Petersburg, Virginia.
Plus there is a nice stack of heads taking two-thirds of the first column including: "U.S. GRANT" "Thundering on the Heels of Lee!" "The Spoils Of Victory" "Sheridan Gathers Up the Chivalry" "Old Dominion Full of Stragglers" "Grant Nearing Lynchburg!" "Prisoners Still Coming" "Glorious Charge Sunday Morning" "Lee's Fortified Line Carried With Small Loss" and much more.
Eight pages, never bound so it folds out to one large sheet, some discrete archival mends inside, nice condition & quite displayable.
