The top of the front page has a one column heading: "HUSKY OARSMEN FROM NORTHWEST BEAT NAVY CREW" with subheads that include: "Washington Eight s Stroked by Dow Walling, Who Rises From Sickbed to Row" and more. (see) Lengthy first report coverage continues on page 12 with result charts and lineups. (see) Great to have this report starting on the front page as most publications would keep sport's related items within the sport's section. This was University of Washington very first national title in any sport.
Complete with all 36 pages, light toning, a little irregular along the spine, generally very nice.
HistoryLink.org: On June 28, 1923, the University of Washington's eight-man varsity crew defeats Navy at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) national championship on the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie, New York. The victory marks both the UW's first national title in any sport and the first time a crew from the West Coast has won the rowing crown.
