THE VILLAGE VOICE, New York, July 7, 1987  As most might be aware "The Village Voice" was an American news and culture paper, known for being the country's first alternative newsweekly. It introduced free-form, high-spirited, and passionate journalism into the public discourse a tradition it maintained throughout its 60+ year history.
Page 80 has a tribute to Fred Astaire after his death, at the age of 88, on June 22, 1987.  The tribute details the broad scope of dancers who were impacted by the skill of Fred Astaire including Nureyev ad Baryshnikov.  "One of the remarkable things about Astaire was the way he made the act of dancing appear effortless, natural ... his manner implied that breaking into a dance was something that people did when they felt the urge - like smiling".
Complete in 132 pages, tabloid-size, folded at the center, nice condition.

Provenance note: This issue comes from The Village Voice's own archives, part of their in-house collection used to create their digital archive.
