May 19, 1865

THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, May 19, 1865  This is one of very few issues we've seen which has a front page portrait of; "DAVID C. HAROLD, the Accomplice of Booth in the Murder of President Lincoln" with an article on him. Also a print of: "The Prisoners' Manacles".
The first column heads include: "THE ASSASSINS!" "Trial of Booth's Accomplices!" "Unraveling of the Mystery!" "Evidence Against J. H. Surratt" "Plan to Capture Mr. Lincoln!" "The Assassins Begin to Realize Their Proximity to the Gallows" and much more as can be seen in the photos.
Eight pages, archival repair at the spine with some small portions of loss at the repaired spine, otherwise in nice condition.
