NEW YORK OBSERVER, Nov. 6, 1851 

* San Bernardino, California - Mormonism
* New home of the Mormons - settling


Page 2 has a report headed: "California" with various news items, one with a mini-head: "Mormons" noting in part: "A large party of Mormons have concluded a bargain for the purchase of the rancho of San Bernardino near Los Angeles...San Bernardino, for the purposes of the Mormons, is one of the finest establishments in the country...Our informant says that at least 5,000 acres can be irrigated & that the Mormons will sow 3,000 acres of wheat next season."
Also a lengthy report of a: "Ship Destroyed By A Whale".
Four pages, some margin tears and a few discrete archival mends at the margins.
