LOS ANGELES STAR, California, May 31, 1862  One of the earliest Los Angeles newspapers we have offered, and from the Civil War no less. At this time the population of Los Angeles was less than 5,000.
Articles include: "The Dim Future of America" "The War Drawing to a Close--100,000 More Men Wanted" "San Diego News" "Unofficial Letter of General A. S. Johnston to President Davis" takes over a full column; "Another Proclamation" concerning General Hunter's controversial manifesto; "Surrender of Fort Donelson" and so much more.
Four pages, scattered foxing, generally good condition.
