Page 3 has a brief report on: "The Susquehannah" and its use by arks & rafts in the Bradford area. Also: "Plenty of Gold!" begins: "We are informed that a gold mine has been recently discovered in Davidson co. containing a vein of the precious metal eighty feet in width..." with more detail.
Inside has: "The Private Memoirs of Washington" which were then in the process of being published. Highlighted is the terrific letter by him dated Phila., June 18,1775 sent to his wife and telling her of his appointment by Congress to be commander-in-chief of the Continental Army, signed in type: George Washington.
Near the back is a lengthy report from the: "West Point Academy".
Sixteen pages, 6 by 9 1/2 inches, nice condition.
As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
