THE WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, May 15, 1813 

* Battle of York (Toronto)

Inside contains a very nice account headed: "Capture of York" [present-day Toronto] which was the capital of Upper Canada at the time. It was the burning of York by the Americans which caused the British to capture & burn Washington, D.C.
Included is a dispatch signed: H. Dearborn which begins: "We are in full possession of this place after a sharp conflict, in which we lost some brave officers and soldiers...". Following this is another detailed letter signed: Henry Dearborn, then a dispatch signed: Isaac Chauncey, which mentions: "I have the satisfaction to inform you that the American flag is flying upon the fort at York. The town capitulated this afternoon at 4 o'clock."
Another letter from Chauncey, and the: "Terms of Capitulation Entered into on the 27th April, 1813 for the Surrender of the Town of York, in Upper Canada...".
Sixteen pages, 6 by 9 3/4 inches, minor foxing, nice condition.

As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
