Page 3 has a letter from Z. Taylor's command which relates the Battle of Okeechobee, headed: "Authentic From Florida" datelines from Fort Gardner, beginning: "The 1st brigade under the command of colonel Taylor reached this, a few yours since, from Lake Okee-cho-bee where it encountered the Indians &, after a severe & bloody battle...the Indians were driven in every direction leaving 10 dead on the ground..." with more. This is followed by another letter with further details.
The front page has: "Latest From Texas" with reports concerning Mexicans at San Antonio, with: "...The people of Texas are somewhat aroused by these rumors of invasion..." with much more.
Sixteen pages, 8 1/2 by 12 inches, nice condition.
As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
