Page 3 has a notable report on the founding of Union College, headed: "Schenectady, Union College" reading: "The gentlemen who were appointed by the inhabitants of the town of Schenectady, to make application to the Regents of the University of the state of New York, for collegiate powers in this town, have returned and assure us that the regents have granted a charter in this town, to be styled Union College, in the town of Schenectady. We are also informed that the more advanced classes in the Academy will be immediately arranged in such manner as to conform to a collegiate education, and the business of the college will commence as soon as possible."
