AMERICAN MERCURY, Hartford, April 2, 1801

* President Thomas Jefferson
* re. Inauguration - inaugural address

The front page begins with a review of Jefferson's recent inaugural address, beginning: "While reading the speech of Mr. Jefferson, every American must feel an indignation that within the United States, there are men, so lost to every honorary principle as to calumniate a character so truly amiable and respectable..." with much more.
Page 3 has mention of the President & others dining at Gadsby's Hotel in Alexandria, plus a list of appointments by the President, as well as a letter authorizing Louis Andre Pichon as the ambassador from France, signed in type: Th. Jefferson.
