Among the items in this issue are: "Particulars Relative to Cowling Castle" which is accompanied by a full page plate of it; "Epitome of Captain Wallis's Voyage Round the World" which is the conclusion of this report from a previous issue, taking over 6 pages with much detail. Wallis's circumnavigation preceded that of Capt. James Cook.
Also: "Critical Remarks on M. de Voltaire" "Description of a Machine for Making Experiments on Air" and much more.
Near the back is the "Historical Chronicle" which has the latest news reports of the day which includes a report that: "...received from New Spain that the city of Guatemala was, in October last, entirely swallowed up by an earthquake & that many thousands of the inhabitants perished...". There is also a report from the Boston newspapers concerning the amount of tax collected, and a brief item from South Carolina as well.
One of the two plates called for is present.
Complete in 56 pages, 5 by 8 1/4 inches, full title/contents page featuring an engraving of St. John's Gate, great condition.

A very nice magazine from the "mother country" just months before the outbreak of the Revolutionary War with a wide range of varied content. This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
