NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, June 22, 1816 Perhaps the best content in this issue is the very unusual front page item headed: "Napoleon--'his mark' " which includes a facsimile of his signature, with a bit of text (vertical) which begins: "The annexed is a very exact copy of the signature of the most extraordinary man now living..." with a bit more.
There is also a nice article headed: "South America & Mexico--South American Affairs" which includes a letter to residents of Venezuela signed in type: Simon Bolivar.
Among other reports in this issue are: "New Orleans" "Legislature of New Hampshire--Governor's Speech" "Royal Dresses" "Escape of Lavalette" and various congressional reports noting political events of the day.
Sixteen pages, 6 1/4 x 9 1/2 inches, minor printing error to the ftpg., good condition.
As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
