* Death & funeral of Lafayette


Pages 8 & 9 have an article: "The Mormons In Missouri", the full text of which takes close to half a page. Included near the beginning is: "...the breaking out of a furious civil war between the Mormons and the residents of Jackson county in the state of Missouri...". The photos show the full text of this early Mormon report.
Another page as a report headed: "Lafayette--the Good" which reports on the death of Lafayette, beginning: "Lafayette is no more!--The brave, the noble, the generous, the patriotic hero--died on the morning of the 29th..." with more. This report on Lafayette continues to take over a full page with subheads: "Lafayette--The Dying Scene" and "Funeral Of Lafayette".
Another item headed: "Gold Coin Laws" is an Act of Congress which provides some specifications concerning the minting of gold coins in the United States, followed by an: "Act Regulating the Value of Certain Foreign Gold coins within the United States".
Sixteen pages, 6 by 9 1/2 inches, nice condition.

As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
