October 01, 1938
DAILY SKETCH, London, Oct. 1, 1938  The day prior British Prime Minster Neville Chamberlain gave a speech concerning the Munich Agreement and the Anglo-German Declaration and assured the British people that: "...it is peace for our time".
The front page has a banner headline: "PREMIER SAYS 'PEACE FOR OUR TIME' " with a subhead: "Never To Go to War Again". Reporting continues on page 3, one article beginning with the famous quote: "I believe it is peace for our time, said Mr. Chamberlain last night...". And the  back page has a photo of a celebratory crowd, headed: 'You Can Sleep Quietly".
The  "peace for our time" quote is primarily remembered for its irony: it could not be more wrong. Less than a year after the agreement, following continued aggression from Hitler and his invasion of Poland, Europe was plunged into World War II.
Terrific to have this report in a British newspaper, I believe the first we have offered.
Tabloid-size, 28 pages, minor loss to an upper corner of the front leaf, a few old mends inside
