Not only a very nice & respected newspaper from the Confederacy, but from its capital as well. Among the many front page war-related reports are: "The War News" with subheads: "Private Reports form General Lee's Army" "From The South Side" "The Yankee Raid on Wytheville & Dublin Depot" "Cheering News from the Trans Mississippi" and a bit more. Also on the front page: "General Lee's Army" "The Courts" "City Intelligence" "From the Armies in Georgia" "From Yankeedom" "From the Army of Norther Virginia" "List of Casualties" from the Battle of the Wilderness.
The back page has the always-interesting editorial on the war events, bits including: "We are too far removed from the scene of action to judge the affairs of Northern Georgia...The continual flank movement of Sherman is identical with that of Grant...neither Lee nor Johnston have lost, by these retreats, the confidence of the country..." and much, much more.
Also on the back page is much reporting from: "the Confederate Congress", plus lengthy text on: "The Campaign in Georgia with many subheads including: "General Johnston on the Field" "A Flank Movement" "The Losses" "The Condition of the Troops" and more. The text begins: "When General Johnston assumed command of the army of Tennessee, he found it a demoralized wreck, lying in fragments around Dalton...".
A wealth of great reading in this issue. Complete as a single sheet newspaper, in very nice and clean condition.
