The top of the front page of the sport's section has a headline: "DI MAG CRACKS HITTING RECORD" with "42!" (see). Also a subhead and photo showing DiMaggio hitting for the record. Page 5 of this section has another heading: "DI MAG HITS SET 42-GAME STREAK" with 2 more related photos and box scores. Of course game # 56 is the one everyone remembers as this was the amazing number he ended up finishing with. But here is when he actually broke the record that was held at the time by George Sisler. Nice to have in this San Francisco publication, rare as such.
Complete with all 24 pages, light toning at the margins, small library stamp within the masthead, small address label on the front page, small binding holes along the spine, a few small archival mends at the margins, generally nice.
