DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, February 12, 1863
* From the capital of the Confederacy
Not only a nice Confederate newspaper, but one from the capital of the Confederacy. The front page includes: "City Intelligence" "Latest News From The North--Yankee Account of the Charleston Naval Victory" "Another Brutal Order of the Enemy--The Sick & Wounded Forced On Families & Their Own Personal Liberty & Property to Be Held for Their Security" "Remarkable Admissions from a Northern Journal of the Superiority of the Southern Army--The Military Organizations of the North & South Contrasted--The Wear and Tear of an Army..." "The Battle of Seven Pines--The Long Withheld Official Report--The True Facts--Cowardly Conduct of the Men--Startling Admission of the Running Off & Skulking of the Men" and even more.
The bkpg. includes an interesting editorial, with bits including: "...The Federal fleet has been fitted out on an enormous scare & with limitless expence for the destruction of Charleston & Savannah; but arrived at the spot the fleet hesitates...Its commanders may well think twice before they lay their ironclads down to a line of batteries which grimly wait on them. They may eventually be forced to the attack; but the attack will very certainly fail..." with much more. There is also much reporting from: "The Confederate Congress" and the: "Virginia Legislature". Also some: "Telegraphic News--Battle in Louisiana--Yankees Routed".
Complete as a single sheet issue with a banner masthead, in very nice condition.
