Page 3 has a report: "...arrived in town from Portsmouth with the news of the defeat of Gen. Prevost. The fact of General Prevost's defeat is now confirmed beyond the possibility of doubt. On the 13th and 14 of June two engagements were fought near Charles Town, South Carolina between the American army commanded by General Lincoln, and the English forces under General Prevost. The latter was finally repulsed & it is greatly to be feared that a second Saratoga business was the consequence...advices from America which mention the total overthrow of General Prevost's army."
The back page has a note: "...In the American newspapers it is mentioned that a feu de joye was fired on the 10th of June from the fort at Annapolis & from the ships, on account of the defeat of General Prevost at Charleston [Charleston] on the 19th of May."
The front page has: "AMERICAN PRISONERS - The following sums have been received towards their relief:" followed by the list.
Four pages, folio size, never-trimmed margins, red tax stamp on page 3, very nice condition.
