THE LONDON EVENING POST, England, June 24, 1779 Both the front page and page 2 have some lengthy reporting concerning the British raid at Norfolk, Virginia. Much details including a lengthy letter signed in type: Geo. Collier, one of the British leaders of the raid.
Page 3 begins with a report from New York: "...are informed that the Loyalists and Indians have attacked, & entirely routed, a body of Continental troops sent to protect the inhabitants and defend the fort and town of Wyoming on Susquehannah, totally destroying the fort & all the houses that had escaped the flames when it was attacked last year."
And more content on the bkpg., one bit noting: "...On the arrival of the British army on the opposite banks of the Delaware when he thought the power of Congress effectually broken & crushed, when, as he tell us, he saw Washington flying in panic and dismay with less than 3000 men, when Congress had abandoned Philadelphia & recommended to the inhabitants to throw themselves on the mercy of General Howe..." and much more.
The front page has: "American Prisoners - The following sums have been received towards their relief..." followed by the list.
Four pages, folio size, never-trimmed margins, red tax stamp on page 3, nice condition.
