The ftpg. has a few bits headed: "Advices from America" one item noting: "The General Assembly of New Jersey...busy framing a law in order to impress every 8th man in the province to serve in the militia for the campaign of the year 1779."
Page 3 has a letter from the governor of New Jersey to Henry Clinton concerning knowledge of an assassination attempt upon him perpetrated by an officer in Clinton's army, signed in type: Wil. Livingston. This is followed by Clinton's response, noting: "...Had I a soul capable of harbouring so infamous an idea of assassination, you Sir, at least could have nothing to fear; for be assured I should not blacken myself with so foul a crime to obtain so trifling an end...", signed in type H. Clinton.
The front page has: "American Prisoners - The following sums have been received towards their relief..." followed by the list.
Four pages, folio size, never-trimmed margins, red tax stamp on page 3, nice condition.
