CHICAGO DAILY TRIBUNE, June 19, 1945
* Battle of Okinawa, Japan ending
* General Simon B. Buckner death
* Tenth United States Army commander
The front page has a terrific banner headline in bold lettering: "JAPS KILL BUCKNER" and "General Dies on 'Day of Victory', Foe Flees" with subheads. Great for display. More on page 2 with related map and photo of Buckner. (see) General Buckner was the highest ranking U.S. military officer to be killed by enemy fire during World War II. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Complete with all 30 pages, light toning at the margins, small library stamp within the masthead, small binding holes along the spine, generally very nice.
