September 30, 1879
DAILY ARIZONA CITIZEN, Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, Sept.30, 1879 Many years ago we had a reasonable inventory of this title, but today this is among our last. And it is a volume one issue from the Territory of Arizona, as it did not become a state until 1912.
Page 3 has a very nice article: "New Mexican Indian War" which reports on the battle of Sept. 17 in which solders were ambushed & trapped by Victorio, considered one of the fiercest of the Apaches. After a day of fighting the soldiers broke off the engagement. Great detail (see).
Page 2 has an ad for the famous "Delmonico Restaurant" by "Miss Nellie Cashman" who has some notoriety in Western history (see several web pages on her). Many of the ads throughout the issue have a distinctive "Old West" flavor.
Complete in four pages, very nice condition.
