Early work on using fingerprints to determine identity...
Item # 645228
May 29, 1897
SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN SUPPLEMENT, New York, May 29 1897 The ftpg. has nice prints of the rules of various European countries, at the center being: "Queen Victoria".
Other prints inside include: "The Terrible Fire at the Charity Bazar in Paris" "The Centennial Jubilee of the High Hat" "Centrifugal Pumping Engines for the Union Dry Dock, Newport" "View of a Woodworking Shop Provided with an Aspirator and Separator" "An Interesting Bear Family" "Experiment With a Deaf Mute" & more.
An interesting article: "Finger Prints in the Determination of Identity" includes 3 photos (see). This would seemingly be very early research in what is now a very common-lace method to determine identity.
Sixteen pages, tiny binding holes at the blank spine margin, some binding residue at the spine, good condition.
