THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, June 17, 1775   A page 2 article begins: "The unnatural & destructive war I have so long dreaded is at length commenced....I fear all hope of a speedy reconciliation is at an end..." with more, including reference to the Battle of Lexington & Concord with: "...before the irritating blow of the 19th of April, there were many  who...still flattered themselves that some sort of compromise would take place...the news of the attack at Boston reached New York on the 23rd & that very day the populace seized the city arms & unloaded two provision vessels bound for the troops at Boston..." with much more (see the photos).
Plus, there is actually an account of the battle of Lexington & Concord, reading in part: "...from an officer at Boston who served in the late expedition to Concord, though totally silent about scalping the soldiers & cutting off their ears, there is an acknowledgment of two extraordinary facts: 1) Tues. evening the 18th instant the grenadiers & light infantry of the army received private orders to move from Boston at ten o'clock at night. They were passed over part of the harbour in boats; & on their landing proceeded on the road to Concord, a country town at the distance of 20 miles from hence. Our business was to seize a quantity of military stores, and--the bodies of Messrs. Hancock and Adams, who are both attained & were at that place enforcing by all their influence the rebellious spirit of the provincial congress. 2) On the road in our rout home we found every house full of people and the fences lined as before--every house from which they fired was immediately forced & every soul in them put to death. Horrible carnage!..." with more, including: "...by accounts...we hear that the New England forces lost 39 men & 29 wounded on the 19th of April last in the engagement they had with the regular troops..." and much more (see the photos).
Plus another editorial report on a pamphlet: "Some Candid Suggestions towards Accommodation of Differences with America" taking over half a page.  And the back page has even more talk concerning events in America.  Simply a wealth of terrific & historic content in this issue!  And curious that the date of this newspaper is the actual date of the Battle of Bunker Hill.
Complete in 8 pages, lite rubbing on the front page, otherwise in very good condition.
