THE LONDON MAGAZINE, England, April, 1776 The issue begins with: "On Venality and Corruption" which has a nice full page plate. The text notes some relevance to the situation between England and the American colonies. Further inside is a letter "To Michael Collinson" written by Dr. Benjamin Franklin, with a prefacing note mentioning his name, and signed in type: R. (sic) Franklin.
There is a review of a new publication titled: "The Rights of Great Britain Asserted Against the Claims of America", followed by: "Some Observations on a Pamphlet lately Published, entitled, the Rights of Great Britain Asserted Against the Claims of America" and then: "Considerations on the American War" and more.
At the back is: "American Affairs" mentioning in part: "...account of an unsuccessful attempt made to gain possession of Quebec by storm..." with details, and mentioning Benedict Arnold: "...In the mean while Colonel Arnold, at the head of about 350 brave troops (who with unparalleled fatigue had penetrated Canada under his command)..In this Attack Colonel Arnold had the misfortune to have his leg splintered by a shot...". Another report begins: "The town of Norfolk is no more! its destruction happened on new year's day!..." with more.
Both full page plates called for are present.
Complete in 56 pages, 5 1/4 by 8 inches, full title/contents page featuring a terrific engraving of the London skyline, great condition.
