* Duel vs. James Barron


The top of the ftpg. is headed: "The Late Duel" and other heads: "Correspondence Between the late Comm. Stephen Decatur and Comm. James Barron" which has various letters signed by both. These letters take the entire ftpg., part of pg. 2, and most of the back page, the latter including the letter from Barron wherein he challenges Decatur, and Decatur's response noting: "...am at a loss to know what your intention is. If you intended it as a challenge, I accept it, and refer you to my friend Com. Bainbridge, who is fully authorized by me to make any arrangement he pleases as regards weapons mode, or distance."
Four pages, nice condition.
