THE BALANCE & COLUMBIAN REPOSITORY, Hudson, New York, July 31, 1804  All columns on all 8 pages are black-bordered in memory of the recent death of Alexander Hamilton, the result of a duel with Aaron Burr.
The entire front page & nearly half of pg. 2 are taken up with a: "Funeral Oration". Further on is a conclusion of a report headed: "Death of Hamilton" which takes almost 2 full pages (see for portions), and includes: "..and it pleases God to give me the opportunity to reserve and throw away my first fire, and I have thoughts even of reserving my second fire--and thus giving a double opportunity to Col. Burr to pause and to reflect...".
This lengthy text is followed by his: "WILL" which takes a column and is signed by him in type: Alexander Hamilton. This is then followed by other particulars of the duel (see for portions) and other items on Hamilton including a back page poem: "The Grave Of Hamilton".
A truly terrific issue on the duel between Hamilton & Burr with many related particulars. Complete in 8 pages, 8 1/2 by 10 1/2 inches, irregular at the blank spine, even toning.
