GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, December, 1796

* 18th century original
* George Washington poem

Among the articles are: "Provincial Coins" "Convenient & Elegant Design for a Church" "On the Eternity of Hell Torments"; much on "Parliamentary Proceedings" and "Interesting Intelligence from the London Gazettes" and much more.
As for American interest, there is a poem titled: "On General Washington, and His Farewell Letter to the United States" (see).
Also of much interest are the two full page plates which are still present, showing Denton Chapel & Saint Adhelm's Well, with the other print showing 'Plan & Elevation of a Design for a Church".
Complete in 88 pages, 5 by 8 1/4 inches, full title/contents page featuring an engraving of St. John's Gate, great condition.

A very nice magazine from the late 18th century with a wide range of varied content. This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
