July 14, 1932

THE NEW YORK TIMES, July 14, 1932

* Coney Island, Brooklyn fire disaster
* Dreamland amusement park and boardwalk

The front page has a three column headline: "$5,000,000 BLAZE SWEEPS CONEY ISLAND; FOUR BLOCKS ON BOARDWALK DESTROYED; HUGE CROWDS WATCH SIX-HOUR BATTLE" with many subheads (see photos). Much more on page 3 with related photos.  Loads of text, too much to photograph all here. First report coverage on the Coney Island fire disaster of 1932. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication, especially on this topic.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Nice condition.
