THE NEW YORK TIMES, September 28, 1935

* Chicago Cubs win NL pennant
* MLB baseball

The sport's section (page 8) has a banner headline: "Cubs Clinch National League Pennant and Will Meet Tigers in World Series" with subheads, box scores and related photo. (see) First report coverage on the 1935 Chicago Cubs winning the National League pennant. They would face the Detroit Tigers in the World Series in which they lost. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 32 pages, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Nice condition.
