The sport's section (page 7) has a banner headline: "50,000 Watch Giants Go 27 Innings to Sweep Double-Header With Cardinals" with subheads that include: "GIANTS WIN TWICE, 1ST IN 18 INNINGS" and more with box scores. (see) Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 26 pages, this is the rare rag edition that was produced on very high quality newsprint, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Nice condition.

wikipedia notes: In what has been described as "one of the greatest games in the history of baseball", baseball pitcher Carl Hubbell of the New York Giants pitched 18 innings without walking a single batter on the St. Louis Cardinals, whose Tex Carleton matched Hubbell for the first 16 innings in a 0-0 deadlock. In the 18th inning, New York won the game 1-0 after Carleton was replaced by reliever Jesse Haines.
